SPIGF will focus on prospects of electric transport market
Forum news

On October 6th, a foresight session "Electric Cars and a New Energy Infrastructure" will be held as part of the business program of the Forum.

The pace of global growth of the sector of battery powered passenger cars replacing cars with traditional engines is astonishing the experts of the oil and gas industry who started to reconsider their forecasts and expectations of the near termination of the epoch of traditional engine transport, backed by official statements of leading European countries and automobile enterprises stating that in the period from 2030 till 2040, the production of cars with internal combustion engines is bound to stop completely.

The Russian government has only just recently started to address the issues of development of electric power infrastructure. ROSSETI has only a short time ago announced the creation of the first federal system of charging stations. To date, the company has about 130 electric stations, and it is planned to increase the number to 190 before the end of the year. The government of the Russian Federation has announced ambitious plans stating that by 2020 the market of electric cars in Russia is going to grow to reach 200 thousand ones.

Today, leading analysts and leading experts are trying to find answers to a number of issues of current importancce: what energy strategy must be chosen for the so-called "raw resources providing countries"? Is the electrical transport is soon going to replace the usual cars, dramatically changing the market infrastructure? Will this profoundly improve the natural environment? And is it not time for the oil industry to wind up investing the development of new fields instead of trying to develop hard-to-recover and non-traditional hydrocarbons?

These and many other questions will be answered by the participants of the foresight session, which will be held on October 6th from 10 am to 01 pm in the hall B6-B8.
