On 4 October, on the final day of the 9th St. Petersburg International Gas Forum, which takes place at ExpoForum Convention and Exhibition Centre, the session "HR and Social Policies of Companies in the Development of the Russian Oil and Gas Complex" was held as part of the personnel conference. At the discussion, the panel meeting «Unique HR and Social Project took place.

Leading enterprises of the industry presented their own corporate programs aimed at improving the skills of employees, protecting their health, as well as engaging the personnel in socially significant projects in the field of ecology, historical memory and charity. The event was organised by the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation and ExpoForum International.

The discussion began with educational forums aimed at identifying talented and active youth. The discussion began with a speech by Olga Alekseeva, Deputy Head of Zarubezhneft JSC. She told the guests about the Nestro Lead professional contest, which became a tool for the company's personnel policy. "The goal is to identify the most active and motivated employees – true leaders and professionals willing to learn and develop. The competition is designed to help them make themselves known, develop their professional competencies and move up the career ladder," – Olga Alekseeva commented. The competition was first launched last summer, and it is for the second year that there are about a thousand applications from young engineers.

Another project aimed at working with young personnel was shared by Dmitry Nesmin, Chairman of the Youth Committee of Tatneft. He told the audience about the international oil and gas youth forum HOT Challenge 2019. The forum, organised with the support of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation and Tatneft, was conceived as an international educational platform, the purpose of which is to create an alliance of thinking progressive youth so that they can meet the challenges in the industry. "With this in view, at the HOT Challenge venue, young oil and gas specialists met with leading industry representatives and scientists, and solved team problems at the hackathon. We intend to further develop the forum," – said Dmitry Nesmin. This year, the event brought together 250 people from five countries.

The topic of the continuing education was touched upon by Tatyana Maleeva, Deputy CEO for Human Resources and Social Programs of RN-Krasnodarneftegaz. In her speech, she shared her experience of interaction with specialised educational institutions such as Kuban State University. "Education is one of the key areas of Rosneft’s youth policy. Only at our enterprise today there are 18 specialists trained as part of the corporate program. We provide a constant flow of youth to the enterprise," – said the top manager.

During the discussion, the head of the department of social programs and corporate culture of RN-Vankor LLC (part of the Rosneft group) Svetlana Lastovskaya moved on from education to a healthy lifestyle. The speaker shared the results of the corporate program "Live Longer", which is aimed at motivating employees and their children to lead a healthy lifestyle and care for health. Natalya Maslova, Deputy CEO for Human Resources of Saratovnefteproduct PJSC, also said a few things about a corporate program dedicated to the culture of a healthy lifestyle at the enterprise.

Pavel Fadeichev, Executive Secretary of the Gazprom Workers’ Union, presented a report on the importance and capabilities of modern workers’ union organisations. "More than 2 thousand events are held annually on the basis of the workers’ union: these are educational programs and the programs of protection of socio-economic rights. We pay great attention to patriotic programs, for example, search forses, preparations for the 75th anniversary of the Victory, and assistance teams for veterans. A completely unique project – "Operation Manchuria", with our Chinese partners joining the search for burials," – said the representative of the Gazprom Workers’ Union.

The discussion was concluded by the Assistant Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation Vladimir Smirnov, who summed up the HR conference and said about the important role of corporate programs in the development of the oil and gas industry. "Staff are the basis of energy, of its sustainable development. Energy is global. It ensures improvement not only in Russia, but in the global economy," – summed up Vladimir Smirnov.
