Innovative solutions can move the oil and gas industry to the new level. On 4 October, during the panel session THE RECENT technological DEVELOPMENTS AND SOLUTIONS FOR THE oil and gas industry, in EXPOFORUM new technologies were presented at the Gas Forum. This event was arranged during the conference of the Russia’s Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The oil and gas sector is rather conservative, but market members understand that advanced technologies and digitalization can promote development and increase capitalization for enterprises. Mikhail Silin, Provost for Strategic Development of the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, is sure that new high-tech projects are highly relevant in such a strategically important sector as oil and gas.

INTECH Service company presented its equipment for electrical divergent logging, which is essential for discovery of significant oil and gas reserves within the operating wells stock. According to its technical parameters, this equipment is believed to be one of the best across the globe. It has proven effective not only in Russia, but in Kazakhstan and the State of Kuwait, and in the nearest future, it will come into the markets of Egypt and Saudi Arabia. According to Valentin Tsoi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of INTECH Service, as early as in June 2019, the 1st start-up production complex (and there will be 4 of them in the end) will start making two product types – electrical divergent logging equipment for detection of wells deposits and sublayers, and microtractors for delivery of geophysical equipment over horizontal directional sections of the wells. Implementing the project can bring the company profits up to 10.8 bln rubles in 5 years.

SNE, an emerging Russian company, develops electric energy storage systems for the oil and gas industry. “Today, the electric energy market has almost now ‘warehouses’ to store its ‘goods’ until they are demanded. Processes of generation and consumption are closely related. Every moment, in any independent energy system – and even in Russia’s unified energy system – as much energy is generated as it is consumed,” says Roman Frolov. “Power plants work in a mode that is economically inexpedient for them. State-of-the-art technology levels allow for solving this task locally, with due regard to the end users.”

Nanotechnology Center of Composites proposed to enhance protection of underground gas and oil pipelines. Alexey Volkov, Head of the Industrial Pipelines Department at NCC, told about their composite protective casings. “Our products have already passed all the tests, and received the GAZCERT certificate. Composite protective casings are used to protect pipelines from external loads and mechanical damaging wherever they cross some underground facilities, motor roads, railway and tramway tracks. Moreover, if the gas pipeline is damaged and there is a gas leak, the gas will remain within the casing,” the speaker explained. This technology has extra benefits like fast assembling, no welding joints and no corrosion.
