Background information:

The Blue Corridor – Gas into Engines 2019 Rally started in Turkey on 29 August. This year, the Rally route symbolically connects the starting and the ending points of the future Nord Stream 2 and TurkStream gas pipelines.

In 2019, the Rally takes place in two stages. The first, the European section of the Rally, is targeted at a new developing segment of demand on natural gas in the European market – natural gas vehicles. The Rally began in Istanbul, in Turkey. The country is the main target market for the gas that will flow through the TurkStream gas pipeline. After that, the Rally participants proceeded through the Balkans to Italy, Belgium, Austria and Germany. As part of the ceremonial finish of the European stage, which took place on 20 September in Lubmin, the point of egress of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline to the land, the relay baton was symbolically handed over to the Russian party.

The Russian section of the Rally began from the Russkaya gas-compressor station (Krasnodar Krai), the starting point of the TurkStream, and will continue to the starting point of the Nord Stream 2 in the Leningrad Region.
