On behalf of Gazprom and me personally I welcome participants and guests of St. Petersburg International Gas Forum 2024!

The energy market is transforming, and its new contours are getting more and more distinct. The key long-term trend is conventional energy resources providing a basic for the world’s energy balance. At the same time, natural gas, which is a sustainable, reliable and convenient energy product, will keep gathering momentum across the globe.

The new world centres of economic growth, which are countries of the Global South, especially in the Asian-Pacific Region, have much interest in continuous supplies of clean energy. It is on them that gas consumption rates will depend, and it is with them that Gazprom has been building mutually beneficial cooperation, including during St. Petersburg International Gas Forum.

Increasingly more participants are coming to take part in the Forum, its agenda is extending, and new up-to-date areas of focus are added to be discussed. In particular, this year we are going to have the first ever sessions to talk about collaboration of BRICS and SCO countries in the gas sector. I am positive that sharing opinions and experience during SPIGF will promote distribution of the best industrial practices for all participants’ convenience and benefit.

Let me invite you to our corporate exposition showcasing import substitution: there you will find the most advanced equipment and technical solutions supplied by Russian manufacturers. The exhibition is a vivid display of consistent operations undertaken by Gazprom in collaboration with Russian industrialists to ensure smooth switching from import substitution in Russia to technological independence.

I welcome you at one of the most essential events of the oil and gas sector, the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum 2024. Every year, we discuss at the Forum the key issues of the industry development: its growth strategy, the most advanced technologies and projects.

Russia’s oil and gas sector doesn’t just produce as much as it used to but manages to meet the growing demand submitted by corporate customers. In particular, it is thanks to the state policy that aims to ensure technological independence as regards to the fuel and energy equipment. At the same time, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation is working on to offer the companies new tools that will promote and support import substitution. One of the initiatives is the national project referred to as New Atomic and Energy Technologies, which will remain valid till 2030.

Besides, today special focus is on the digital transformation of the oil and gas sector, which implies to switch all the production procedures to the new technological tracks. This will make the Russian oil and gas companies more profitable and sustainable.

Over the years of its existence, the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum has really become a major venue where people come to have comprehensive discussions about global trends and top-priority initiatives in the sector. Decisions that leaders of the industry make following the results of the talks and meetings directly contribute to development of the gas industry.

I am positive that the extensive convention and exhibition programs will provide their input to enhancement of scientific-technical and production-technological potential of Russia, as well as extend collaborations in one of the most essential sectors of economy.

The gas sector is one of the key drivers for our country’s economic growth. Russian companies are implementing ambitious projects, dynamically developing new reserves, upgrading and introducing unique game-changing technologies, and also creating conditions for highly qualified professionals coming around.

The Ministry of Energy is consistently promoting interests of the Russian fuel and energy sector at the country’s biggest communication venues, including St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Eastern Economic Forum and Industrial and Energy Forum (Tyumen).

St. Petersburg International Gas Forum is not an exception: it continues the agenda of the Russian Energy Week, which is the one of the major events for the sector. SPIGF focuses on the most essential professional matters related to growth of the gas sector and ensures an effective dialogue between the state officials and the business community. Moreover, it helps with market economy strengthening.

I am happy to welcome organisers, participants and guests of St. Petersburg International Gas Forum!

As before, St. Petersburg welcomes representatives of the leading industrial companies and unions, as well as authorized experts and specialists to discuss the current status and prospects of the gas sector.

Despite the geopolitical strain, Russia is still holding its position as a leader in energy feedstock mining and export. The gas sector opens new areas of focus and keeps developing in the new reality.

Moreover, for many years, St. Petersburg International Gas Forum has been one of the largest venues to showcase technological innovations. This event has become a place to talk about the matters relevant not only for the organising country but for all states where natural gas is used as the main energy product. Sharing experiences lets us get a wide array of judgements about the most essential matters of the gas industry and also give way to collaborations and joint initiatives.

This year, the key topics of the Forum include the new world order of today’s gas market, Russia’s exporting potential and practices of using pollution-free fuels.

St. Petersburg is paying special attention to the eco agenda and is eager to share insights. Natural gas reaches 99.8 percent in the city’s fuel and energy balance plan and all our boiler houses have been switched to ecofriendly fuel. We are working to extend our gas fueling network used by both municipal and private vehicles.

By the way, St. Petersburg has twice become the Gas Engine Capital of Russia.

I have no doubt that initiatives and projects presented at the Forum and recommendations we are going to formulate will promote further development of the Russian economy and provide a basis for mutually beneficial international cooperation.

On behalf of the Russia’s State Duma Committee on Energy and of the Russian Gas Society, let me greet all of you at the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum!

SPIGF is a unique venue that every year has been opening its doors to top-level state officials, top oil and gas companies, as well as sectoral scientists to promote sharing of the best practices and progressive knowledge about technological achievements, initiatives and innovations, and moreover to discuss advanced concepts and development options for the industry.

The Forum is usually participated by high-status representatives of amicable states, who are dedicated to have long-term and mutually beneficial energy partnership with Russia, and this makes the event even more significant.

Traditionally, SPIGF is arranged along with a large-scale exhibition, where companies present their technological solutions and projects. It offers participants great opportunities to find new contacts and have business meetings.

As before, this year the program of the Forum includes the most up-to-date and pressing issues related to technological independence, international collaboration development, efficiency enhancement in all the gas industry sectors from geological prospection to gas conversion, HR management and solutions to staffing issues, digital transformation and fund raising.

The Russian Gas Society is holding round table discussions and scientific-practical conferences during SPIGF 2024. These events will cover promising technologies for hydrocarbon feedstock procession, legislative regulations in the oil and gas sector, international technology-related collaboration, development of exchange trade tools and mining. You are welcome to attend our events.

As part of the Forum, we are going to have the Billiards Tournament WINLINE Cup of President of the Russian Gas Society. The Tournament has been an informal meeting place at billiard table for many company’s officials.

I have the honor to greet the participants of the 12^th St. Petersburg International Gas Forum,
In the 12 years, the Gas Forum has steadily made it into the Top 3 of industrial events that take place around the world every year. The Forum’s authority has developed thanks to its up-to-date agenda that makes sure to cover key trends of the sector development, but also because of its high-status participants. SPIGF has been bringing together directors of the biggest oil and gas companies, top international experts, and officials from federal executive bodies. During 4 days of operation, the venue is usually attended by up to 30 thousand visitors from more than 50 countries.

In 2023, SPIGF is going to be even more outstanding and get more attention than before. For the first time ever, its exhibition will be arranged in every pavilion of the Expoforum Centre, as well as the Passage and the outdoor premises. More than 500 companies will demonstrate the whole assortment of opportunities that the gas industry has got. Collaborative stands arranged by the Republic of Belarus and constituent entities of the Russian Federation will present the production potential possessed by the fuel and energy industry of the Union State.

The exhibition program will include InGAS Stream 2023 – Innovations in the Gas Industry International Specialised Exhibition, Import Substitution in the Gas Industry Corporate Exposition, ROS-GAS-EXPO International Specialised Exhibition of Natural Gas Industry and Technology for Gas Facility.

The list of the newly designed facilities to be exhibited will include mobile fueling stations with LNG-based energy sources, portable well survey and development equipment kits, tool kits for gas and oil production stimulation, and many more.

The convention program will answer to the current strategic agenda and the industrial trends, including technological independence and import substitution, digital transformation, mining and transportation, gas infrastructure expansion to regions, gas engine fuel, LNG, and hydrogen-based energy. The participants of the Global Natural Gas Market Transformation: Challenges and Ways of Development plenary session and other events are going to focus on each of the topics mentioned above.

Moreover, during the Forum, Gazprom will hold a meeting on the technological development and a session of its Science and Technology Council.

Participants of the Youth Day will talk about HR management efficiency enhancement and discuss the talent pool and the scientific potential of the sector.

Russia – Middle East and Russia – Asia business dialogues will take place during the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum, too. The geographic focus has changed in view of export supplies and international collaboration channels diversification, and naturally these trends have their impact on the list of participants. For the second year in a row, the amount of European companies and visitors attending the Forum has been reducing whereas the number of our guests from amicable regions keeps increasing. We are going to talk to the latter about large-scale international projects, construction of new gas pipelines and gas hubs, to discuss the new logistics and the global energy safety matters.

Summarizing the results of 2022, the world’s gas demand reduced by 65 mln cbm with about 90% (55 mln) falling to Europe’s share. Our key objective is to compensate for this reduction with the help of new projects implemented in collaboration with our friendly countries and the local demand support by developing the infrastructure required. As a centre of attraction for industrial leaders, SPIGF seems to be the most efficient tool to make all of these come true.
