DISCUSSION:

In August 2024, President of Russia Vladimir Putin signed a law about mining development, which brought more attention to this hi-tech industry. It is growing rapidly and drags along adjoining sectors, established new connections and growth points, and all of it betters our country’s gross domestic product. Collaboration of mining and fuel&energy sector has already proven to be effective. Such a predictable consumer with high purchasing discipline promotes higher productive electric energy supply and extra income obtained by energy companies. Moreover, mining companies take active part in the electric energy demand control program.

Currently, Russia has to solve a strategic task of increasing natural gas consumption and use associated petroleum gas as effectively as possible. Major oil companies are looking for a method that would ensure a 97.5% efficiency in APG use, for example, electricity generation. Quite often, oil mining sites are located away from industrial and residential users, and building electric grids through woods and bogs is not economically beneficial. That’s why mining data centers are literally the only type of production that can be quickly and efficiently established in secluded regions, including Far North.

This said, using associated petroleum gas to produce electric energy for mining data centers doesn’t just increase wealth capitalization for oil and gas production companies — it also complies with the green agenda. Mining by means of APG-based generation reduces greenhouse gases emission by 63% as compared to APG flaring. Moreover, it can provide crypto-currency liquidity, which is required for international economic activities.
