On Friday, August 17, a convoy of gas-fueled vehicles from Russia participating in the international motor rally on natural gas (methane), “Gas into Motors”, left Orenburg for the starting site in China’s Zhudun. The motor rally is to become the longest-distance one in the world, 9,881 km and follow the route of the new Europe – China international transport corridor.
The organizers of the motor rally are the largest power companies of Russia, China, and Kazakhstan: Gazprom PJSC, CNPC and National Company KazMunayGas JSC. Germany’s Uniper is among the partners.
The ceremonial start is to take place on September 4 in China’s Zhudun. The rally route will go through the territories of China, Kazakhstan, and Russia through the cities of Zhudong, Suqyan, Zhengzhou, Xian, Dingxi, Wuwei, Jiayuguan, Hami, Turfan, Usu, Khorgos (China), Almaty, Taraz, Turkestan, Kyzylorda, Aralsk, Aktobe (Kazakhstan), Orenburg, Almetyevsk, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Vladimir, Torzhok and Saint Petersburg (Russia).
The motor rally features Russian gas-fueled automobiles made by KAMAZ, GAZ Group, AVTOVAZ, UAZ, and RariTEK running on liquefied and compressed natural gas, among other automobiles. The fuel for the transport on the territory of Russia is to be provided by Gazprom Gas-Engine Fuel, LLC.
The finish of the motor rally is to take place in October in Saint Petersburg during the 8th Saint Petersburg International Gas Forum.
