They’ve been holding this event since 2015. It is a place where the industrial experts and the rising generation meet to talk about the future of the global energy.
Established under the auspices of the International Business Congress (IBC) with the leading part taken by Gazprom and an active role performed by the St. Petersburg State Economic University with other companies that are members to IBC, the Youth Day aims to keep today’s students updated about advanced technologies, promising initiatives, up-to-date development trends in the energy sector, but also to implement new means of business-university collaboration.
Youth Day is usually attended by MBA and PG students, who are interested in the energy sector and expect to make a related career. Applicants have to take some entry tests and take a course in the Virtual Academy, which is both a training program and try-outs for the event.
In 2024, nearly 300 entries from 40 countries were received, but only 136 applicants from 30 countries (including Africa, Russia, Belarus, Bolivia, Vietnam, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Iran, Kazakhstan, Cambodia, Mexico, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, and Philippines), representatives of 45 universities, were admitted to study in the Virtual Academy.
During the course at the Academy, scheduled for June 3 – July 12, the participants will be given lectures by experts and top managers from Gazprom, InfoTeСS, Rosatom, and Comita Digital Technologies. They will learn about transformation processes taking place in the energy sector, forecasting and strategic planning in energy companies, AI, digital tech in the energy industry, cyber security, and progress with nuclear energy. Representatives of Global Energy Community, a network of emerging energy engineers established by graduates of Youth Day, will share their advice on starting a career in the relevant industry.
Depending on their academic achievements and personal tasks performed, 30 students with the best record will be admitted to take part in Youth Day arranged during SPIGF 2024.
The Youth Day Agenda will include team building, workshops, exhibition visits, attendance of the Forum Plenary Session and the off-tie meeting with experts and directors of energy companies, plus a business game, and entertainment events, too.
