Volatility in demand and prices, competition on the part of renewable energy sources, pressure imposed by the society and regulation agencies \u2013 all of these make the oil and gas industry participants look for new solutions and ways of business development.<\/p>\n If we study artificial intelligence (AI) use in the oil and gas sector in Russia, we will see that they are using it more and more often. Besides, three prospective spheres for AI use in the oil and gas industry can be outlined \u2013 geological survey, mining, and strategic planning. In geological survey, AI will ensure more efficient interpretation of the seismic research and investigation boring data. In oil mining technologies, smart fields and smart wells are gathering momentum, as they enable remote management of the oil recovery facilities. Today, there are 20+ smart fields in Russia managed with the use of modern technologies and AI-based solutions. In today\u2019s strategic planning, they widely apply artificial neural networks that with high precision predict efficiency of geological and technical proceedings. And as long as training data are standardized, their precision can be enhanced manifold.<\/p>\n There are other spheres of the oil and gas industry where AI can be used. Thus, thanks to deep learning algorithms leaks can be discovered; machine learning algorithms can help with detection of abnormal mining procedures and enhancement of well boring etc.<\/p>\n Analysts confirm that further introduction of AI in the oil and gas sector is very promising. According to the research performed by Mordor Intelligence, the AI market is expecting rapid growth in 2020 through 2025, whereas the Cumulative Aggregate Gross Revenue (CAGR) is 12.66% with the market potential of such solutions coming to 3.98 bln $ by 2025.
