Traditionally, it has been the role of European companies to provide new technologies and the role of their Russian partners to deliver fossil energies. Nowadays, the situation is not that clear-cut anymore. Global trends of the energy industry as well as a Russian state policy to substitute imports have an impact on the German-Russian technology partnership.
