The 8th St. Petersburg International Gas Forum (SPIGF 2018) will take place in St. Petersburg from the 2nd until the 5th of October 2018. Gazprom Gas-Engine Fuel will be one of the partners of the forum, organizing a number of events considering the use of natural gas as engine fuel.
Among other events SPIGF 2018 will include the finish ceremony of the “Gas to engines” international gas engine motor rally. The rally is organized by the biggest energy companies of Russia, China and Kazakhstan, such as Gazprom PJSC, China National Petroleum Corporation and KazMunayGaz National Company JSC. Russian and foreign-made vehicles running on liquefied and compressed natural gas will take part in the event and will have to cover a distance of 9,881 km from Rudong (China) to St. Petersburg.
The outcome of the “Gas to engines” motor rally will be summarized at the international conference on the use of natural gas as engine fuel; the conference will also include a discussion on the perspectives of creating a gas filling infrastructure along the international transport route from Europe to China.
An extensive exhibition and business program together with a test drive of vehicles running on natural gas are also included into the events planned for the representatives of gas engine industry during SPIGF 2018.
According to the Director General of Gazprom Gas-Engine Fuel Mikhail Likhachev, “The ‘Gas to engines’ rally is the key event of the forum this year. This is the most epic project in the history of gas engine industry. It will be the first time that long-distance vehicles running on liquefied natural gas will cross China, Kazakhstan and Russia in a single rally. This will let all participants of the project evaluate the economic effect of methane use on long distances, test drive the gas engine equipment and determine locations for gas filling stations along the route of the rally”.
